A New Year

A time for finishes from years past...

I drew up a list of 12 UFOs that have been languishing for a couple of years.  I numbered them and used a random number generator to choose the first on to work on.

Ta DA....

My first UFO to work on is "Civil War Moments".  I'm ashamed to say that I have been working on this (very occasionally) for the past 2 years.  It was suppose to be a Christmas present for my husband.

As of last year I had made the 3 applique blocks and the middle 3 pieced blocks.
Between yesterday and today I made the bottom 3 blocks.  I have 3 more applique blocks and 6 more pieced blocks to work on.

I did manage to get a finish on New Year's Day.

This is a table runner that I made at the end of 2017.  Didn't get it done in time for Christmas and set it aside.  While digging through some UFOs I found this.
So I pulled a backing and a scrap of batting and sandwiched it with safety pins.  It was a breeze to quilt.  I made the binding from some jelly roll strips I had left over from a project.  So now I have a gift for next Christmas....lol

I need to show you a gift my daughter gave me for Christmas.

It's the only time she has ever used the B-Word for me.....lol.  I love them.

We are back to working our Dearest Boy this month.  We'll be back on the 15th with the next block.

I hope you all have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy

That is a fun sampler! I'm sure it won't take too much for you to get the top complete.

It will feel so good to finish up some of the UFOs. I need to do that too. Cute socks!

I'm working on UFOs too. One just needed borders but I was determined to put words on it. I sewed and sewed yesterday. it took me all day long just to get those borders on. No regrets, another UFO top finished. Your Civil War Sampler blocks look great. Some of the applique blocks looks tricky. But, you've got Lincoln's profile done, so I know you can do the rest.

What a fun way to decide what to work on! Hopefully, unlike me, you will remember where you put your finished gift--lol!

I likw theme of the pattern you are working on. How large of a quilt does it make?

The Civil War Sampler will be a nice finish.
I have several quilts-in-progress that rarely see the light of day. I am trying to take one or two of those along to my retreats and spend a day on each one making some serious progress.

Great way to pick a project to work on.
So funny, my daughter gave me the same socks last Christmas.
Happy new year!
