Sorry I Haven't Written Sooner

It hasn't been the best 2 weeks of the year.  I didn't get much sewing done.  I tell you why later.

I did get my Joined at the Hip BOM done.

Next I made 10 of the pinwheel blocks for the first pieced round of the Humble Quilts/Barrister's Block Medallion Quilt SAL.

Now for why I haven't gotten much done.  I went for my normal Diabetic check up and everything was fine.  Some of my levels came down.  2 days latter I developed some congestion and then my back started hurting.  Turns out I have a cyst on my back that got infected.  Heavy doses of antibiotics (still have 6 days to take pills) have taken a lot of the redness away and the mass has shrunk.  The meds make me very tired so I can only get a little done at a time.  If it doesn't get better the doctor said she was going to put me in the hospital....ugh.

Any way we had plans to go camping over Memorial Day weekend with my youngest son Mike and his girlfriend Stacy.  We are still going.  I am taking some hand work and plan on vegging out for a week.  Hopefully by then my back will be all cleared up.

We leave tomorrow morning and I can wait.  This will be Sammie's first experience camping.  She loves the trailer.  However, earlier today she tried to go in and didn't realize the screen door was closed.  Ouch!!  Now she waits for us to go in first.

I'll try and post some pictures of our week...not sure if they have wifi but I can post some pictures with my phone.  Ah...modern technology.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

A Center Square, A UFO, and Some Baseball

Are you doing the Medallion Sew A Long with Lori and Randy?  Well I am.   The center block was designed by Lori.  She did hers in fusible and machine applique.  But you know how much I love needle turn applique....

I love how it turned out.  Can't wait for the next round.

I finished my first UFO for the month.  Although small it is a finish.

This was a mystery quilt.  You chose the fabric first and then got a clue each week.  It used charm squares.  It's not my favorite but I do plan on making another using different fabric and holiday applique.

Now for baseball.  You know summer is on the way when Little League starts.
My granddaughter Cassidy is on a Tournament team.  She had a game on Tuesday.  We made it for the first game (she had a double header).

I didn't get a picture of her sliding into home to score.  They won the game and found out later they won the second game too.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'm off to the sewing room to work on the memory quilt.  Hope you have a wonderful day and get to enjoy some sunshine.

Some Blocks, A Forgotten Project, and I WON...

First the blocks.

These are the May blocks for Country Threads BOM.

A Forgotten Project.

I had mentioned a while ago I was commissioned to make a memory quilt.  The quilt is made up of leaf blocks and log cabin blocks with a photo in the center.  I started working on the leaf blocks a while ago and then got busy with other projects.  I even forgot to put it on my to do list.  Over the weekend I got the photos for the log cabin blocks so I really need to get my butt in gear and get it done.  This and a dozen other projects.  Autumn is the favorite season of the girl this quilt is being made for.  I hope she likes it.

And now for I WON.

As you know every month I link up with Carrie at "A Passion for Applique" for UFO Busting.  I have been getting a lot of older projects finished by doing so.
Each month you pick 3 UFO's you want to finish.  You need to get at least one finished.  You get a chance to win a nice prize.  Well guess what????  I won for the month of April.  I won a pattern, 2 FQ and $20 gift certificate from The Raspberry Rabbits.

Here is the fabric and pattern....

The above 2 patterns are what I picked from Michelle's shop.  They both work up to 12" x 12" and will be perfect for my standing quilt holder.  The squirrels are just a pattern.  The Christmas tree is a kit.

I purchased this package of Autumn color wool felt to use for the Squirrel block.

And Michelle sent me this as a gift.

A piece of gray wool felt, a pen, 2 pieces of Dove Raspberry Chocolate (it was delicious) and a wonderful card.  You really need to check out her patterns.

Well, my eyes are blood shot and I have a headache.  I'm proofing a pattern for a friend.  She is so talented.  So I'm taking some pain pills, starting dinner, and then doing nothing for the rest of the evening.

Wishing you a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by.

May To Do List

I can't believe it is already May 1st.

Time to make my list of things to do.  I'm going to try and keep it easy this month.  The weather is changing and we are hoping to go camping soon.  Also since the monsoons are done we can get out and do some walking.

Here's my list

UFO Busting

1.  Scrappy Trip Around the World

I really want to get this one finished.

2.  Christmas Table Runner

This was a mystery program.  I started this back in 2011.  So I guess it is time to finish it.

3.  Harmony Quilt.

I have had this basted and now I need to get it hand quilted.

Other projects for May.

BOM's
4.  Joined at the Hip4.
5.  Country Threads
6.  Seasonal Applique
7.  Almost Amish
8.  Pat Sloan
9.  Simply Put Plus

Ongoing Projects
10.  Japanese X Blocks
11.  Finish my Quilt Swap Quilt
12.  Humble Quilts SAL.....Lori started another SAL making a Medallion quilt.

My list may seem long but alot of it is only a block or two.  I hope I do better this month.

Hugs, Cathy

Wow it is May Already....

Time sure flies when you are having fun.

Lots to share with you today.  An April finish.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  I bought a striped fabric for the backing and liked it so much I used it for the binding too.

I told you I went to a quilt show Friday.  Well, what I forgot to show you is what I bought from the vendors.

I fell in love with candle mat kit.  It has different quilt blocks that go around the mat.

I got a new pattern for a table runner and some cute charm squares.

I'm going to start some wool projects so I picked up a pack of wool charm squares.

I found this wonderful fabric that will be great for backgrounds.

I won a door prize.  This is a pattern by Karen Stone.  The reason I picked this is that years ago I took a class with her and she was working on this quilt.  I have pictures of it before it was finished.  I learned to hand applique in this class.

I joined a Japanese X Swap and Bee.  I have to make 2 blocks each for 2 members.  The first two wanted brights.  I'm not really a "bright fabric" kinda girl so I hope these work.  One of them also wanted black and white fabrics.

The other day I was looking for my pair of scissors that I keep in the living room for when I am doing hand work.  I looked high and I looked low.  I hear a crunching sound.  I listened hard and found the noise was coming from Sammie's Puppy cave.

She had chewed off one finger hole and was working on the next.  No harm was done to Sammie but lots to my scissors.

Good news was that I got 2 new pair.  I will be more careful as to where I put these scissors.

I'm off to the sewing room now to start my May To-do List.  I'll be back shortly.

That's so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Cathy
