A Few Projects

I got a few things finished over the 4th of July weekend.

A while back I purchased a Moda Scrap Bag on Amazon.  These are strips cut down the side of some yardage and include the strip with the name of the pattern designer and color swatches.  They usually are between 2 1/2" to 3 1/2" in width which includes the selvage.

I made this Table Topper with one of these Scrap Bags.  This particular scrap bag was approx.  2 1/2" and after I trimmed off the selvage edge I came up with 2" strips.  Here is an example of the bags.

I started a new applique project.  I'm still working on Linda Brannock's Flower quilt with Karen at Log Cabin Quilter.  I was going through some books and came across The Pokeberry Quilt by Jan Patek.  I will be working a bit slower on this one.  Here's my first block.

The background looks gray...however in reality it is brown.  This is the first time working with brown as a background.

Finally....Ta Da....I finished the blocks for my Vivid Grid Quilt.

Here are blocks 19 thru 30.  All the blocks are up on my design wall but I didn't get a picture.  I'm hoping to get the blocks all sewn together this weekend.

I hope every one had a safe and happy 4th of July.  We stayed home however it was any thing but quiet.  There were so many fireworks going off in the neighborhood that the smell of sulfur was strong in the air.  Our poor dog, Sammie, hid under the bed.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Sultry June

It's been a very hot and humid June.  We don't have central air.  However, I do have air conditioning in my bedroom and sewing room.

I've been working on some applique in the evenings and have been spending my days sewing.

I finished another 6 Vivid Grid blocks for a total of 18.  I need 30 for a quilt.

These blocks are 10".  I generally cut out the blocks ahead of time.  Then when I'm in the mood for some easy piecing the blocks are all set to start sewing.

Next up...Homestead Blocks

These are the first 6 blocks.  The blocks are from the Fat Quarter Shop's Charity Quilt sew along.  I've been making at least 20 blocks of each design.  These will be in a wedding quilt for my Grandson.

Finally we have another Christmas gift in progress.

This is a sixteen patch Camping/Beach quilt.

Here is a close of one of the blocks.  The orange has lots of trees and the lighter fabric has cars, boats, bikes and campers.

This quilt reminds me how much I miss camping.  We haven't been able to do much this year.  Hubby's parents are in their late 80's and need lots of attention and care.  He spends at least 3 days a week maybe more.  Thank goodness his brother lives with them.

I hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying your beginning week.  Thanks for stopping by.

Feeling Good

Every day I feel better.  Still taking it easy but back to having fun in my sewing room.

I pulled out an old UFO.  It is a block of the month from 2014.  I had 10 of the 12 blocks done and just lost interest.  It is a Sugar Block BOM.

The fabrics are all from Needle Love.  One of the background fabrics has bumble bees all over it.  Now I need to figure out how to put these blocks together.  Any ideas?

I made another 2 blocks for my Vivid Grid quilt.  Now I have 6 blocks and one prepped.  24 to go.

I also got another 8 blocks prepped for my Friendship quilt.  These are more of the Box in a Box blocks.

Today I am going to try to get some scraps cut.  Resting up for some more marathon quilting.

We are having some beautiful weather.  I hope you are enjoying the same.  Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

One Week Later

It's been a week since I had my second Carpal Tunnel surgery.  I'm more sore this time and more bruised.  But I'm able to get back to sewing.  I planned ahead and got some projects cut out.

First up.

Here are the first 2 blocks from the Buttermilk Basin BOM from 2015.  I decided I need to start working on this again.  I have the next block prepped and ready to go.

I decided to add some different blocks to the friendship quilt I have been working on.  This is from the Fat Quarter Shop.

These blocks are called Box in a Box.

I started a new project....I know who would have believed it....lol

The quilt is called "Vivid Grid" and it is a Color Girl Quilts pattern.  I found it in the latest issue of Quilts and More.  I'm using a couple jelly rolls designed by Primitive Gatherings.

And finally...

This is a project I started years ago and then ran out of steam.  The block pattern is called "Bow Tie Log Cabin".  The blocks are 6".  I just got tired of looking at the project box with the blocks in it.  So I pulled them up and found I had 36 blocks.  I sewed them together 6 rows with 6 blocks.  Once my hand gets stronger I will machine quilt it and I will have a new table quilt.

Thanks for the well wishes and for stopping by.
