Dearest Boy Block 1B

This block was SOOOOOO much easier than the first block.

I love this goose.  She has so much attitude.

Now be sure to check with Karen and Julie on their blogs as they too will be sharing photos of this sweet little goose.

The weather here has been in the 90's and Cathy don't do heat...lol.  Thank goodness hubby put the air conditioner in the bedroom and the sewing room.  Our dog Sammie can't take the heat either.  Yesterday she got a haircut.  We thought that would help...but the air conditioning helps more.  She lays on the floor in my sewing room while I sew.

I know there is an issue on Blogger regarding on comments going to our email accounts.  I will check my blog often and will respond to your comments.

Thanks for taking the time from your busy lives to stop by.  I really enjoy your comments.

A Little Bit

I gotten just a little bit of sewing done.  I've been going through bags of scraps trying to tame them.  Alas no luck.  They are such wild creatures.  LOL

I tried a new Accuquilt die I recently purchased for a Lemoyne Star block.  I used Christmas fabric.

While going through bags and boxes of fabric in my sewing room I came across this patriotic Christmas fabric.  I had a problem matching up the pieces in the block.  Finally I pulled out the cover of the die and read the directions.  When I cut the fabric to put it in the cutter the pieces were backside to backside.  The instructions say the fabric needs to be right sides up.  It truly made a difference when I started to piece the blocks.

I made another block for my Red and Green quilt.  Although this one is pink.

I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  I need to pick the next bock to work on.

I've been working on blocks for my Dear Boy quilt.  I figured I needed to get a head start on some of the blocks as some are very challenging.  We will be posting pictures of the second block on the 30th.

I wanted to share a couple of photos of 2 of my granddaughters.

First up is Ashley.  She is the hockey player.  They were State Champs again this year.

This is her prom picture.

Next is Cassidy.  She plays baseball.  This is here official baseball picture.

I'm so proud of all my grand kids.

Our oldest grandchild and only grandson, Brian is getting married in June.  And my granddaughter Alecia is taking college courses.  She had a tough time in high school which makes it so wonderful that she is continuing her education.  We are so proud of her.

I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend.

Dearest Boy

Block 1A

I will not lie.  This was not an easy block.  It gave me nightmares..really!  I would wake up in the middle of the night and worry about getting this block done.

I got a sneak peak at Karen's block.  I thought she was sending me a photo of the original block.  She's good.

I've emailed Julie and she felt the block was hard too.  Needless to say I can't wait to see her block.

Without further ado here is my humble block.

I did a simpler version.  I also used blue instead of red.  I'm happy with the results and once finished I had a really good nights sleep.

Thanks for stopping by.

Churn Dash Santas

I finished another Christmas Quilt top.

It's a wild quilt top.  Now I need to get in gear and this one quilted.

I've also been busily working on "Sweet Land of Liberty".  I am so in love with this project.

I'll be back on the 15th with the first block of the "Dearest Boy" quilt.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Small Finish

I made this little Jan Patek quilt a while ago.  I finally decided to machine quilt it.

I did cross hatch quilting.  I have so many quilts to finish I figured I better start getting some of them done.

Next I did another block for my Red and Green quilt.

This is an ongoing project.  I'm in no hurry to finish...seeing I've been working on for 2 years...lol.

I finished all the blocks for my second Christmas quilt.  I plan on sewing the top together later today.

I'm working on the first block for the "Dearest Boy".  It is probably the hardest block I've ever made.  I had nightmares about this block.  Hopefully, I can get it done.  What a pain this block is.  The rest of the blocks look to be a lot easier.  Wish me luck.

Lori at Humble Quilts has posted the blocks to make for month 5 of the "Sweet Land of Liberty" quilt.  So it's going to be a sewing marathon here at Big Lake Quilts.

Well, we had 3 days of hot weather.  Now we are having a couple of days of rainy weather.  We go from one extreme to the other here in Michigan.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.
