Summer that is. We are back to cool, damp, gray days.
Woo Hoo....I finished the quilt for Janet. Janet as you may recall is the Nurse that took such great care of my Dad. This is the first of many that I will be making for Janet's Infusion Therapy room. She is an Angel among us mere mortals.
Since it is June it is time to change the quilts. This is a quilt I made my husband while taking care of my Dad in McMillan (in the Upper Peninsula). It was a quilt from Fons and Porter Magazine. It was presented in sections over 6 issues of the magazine. I lost one of the issues and was so grateful that I found the missing copy at a yard sale. This is one of my favorites. I just love applique.
This little wall quilt was a block round robin that I participated in years ago with an AOL group. I did the 2 birds which I got from a Debbie Mumm pattern. The first 6 people made blocks, the 7th put them together the 8th did a border and the 9th did the final border, quilted and did the binding. However, they forgot to put a hanging sleeve on the quilt. The quilting was done by machine and was just stitched around the borders and the sashing. I think when I take this quilt down I'm going to remove the binding, quilting and hand quilt it. It is too sweet to leave it the way it is.

I finished May's Henrietta Whiskers BOM. It is soooo hot here that I finished it sitting in my easy chair with the box fan blowing (No air conditioning here).

Finished my AAQI quilt. I hand quilted it. Sent the email with all the info and am just waiting for the registration number so I can send it in.
It's going to be hot and humid today. So find somewhere cool to spend the day. I am going to try and get some quilts sandwiched today so I can get something finished.

Sorry to go on and on about the weather but I've been enjoying it. More on that later....
The latest Barbara Brackman CW block. One of the few projects I'm actually keeping up with.
This is my latest Alzheimer's quilt. I used the 15 minutes play method. I made this quilt in about a half hour. It is all sandwiched and I plan on hand quilting it today. You might remember the last quilt I made for Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative..."Scraps of Hope". I'm happy to say that it sold for $40.00. If you can... make a quilt, if you can't... buy a quilt. Now back to the weather. It was so nice out yesterday. Hubby and I went out to Stoney Creek Metro Park. We stopped and picked up Subway and had a picnic. But first we walked.
We walked along Stoney Creek. It was a nice shady walk, at first. Then we walked in the sunshine. Very hot and a good workout.
We saw some wonderful wild flowers. And I had a devil of time getting a picture of this dragon fly. Most of my pictures were of just the greenery.
When we got home I went out in the backyard and found that my peonies had blossomed. These flowers mean a lot to me. They came from my parents home up north. After Dad passed away and we were clearing out the house we decided to dig up the peonies. These plants were transplanted from every home my parents lived in... They would be very happy to know that they are with me now.

It's in the 70's, low humidity, sun shining, and a beautiful breeze. Please excuse my excitement over the weather. But we have had such crappy weather lately it's hard not to be excited about some sunshine.
Got up bright and early and went to the eye Doctor's. I sat on my glasses and knocked one of the arms off. I was so afraid that they couldn't be fixed but I was wrong. 5 minutes later I was out the door, glasses better than ever and on my way to Metro Beach for my morning walk.
Since this is the 1st of the month I had to work on the EQ BOM. This one was a tough one. Not happy with the way it turned out but it will just have to do. To many projects so little time.
I've been having so much fun with 15 Minutes Play that I decided to do the BOM. It started in April. So I pulled my red and blue scraps and made some fabric. I had some cheddar yellow for the background and went to work. I was soooo happy with the results till I looked at every one's blocks. I didn't follow the directions very well. It's not the right star. So back to drawing board.
I leave you with a picture of my granddaughter Cassidy at her first baseball game of the season. (Technically it is the second as the first was rained out.) She is sitting on her dad's lap. I'm proud to say she got a couple of hits. Parents, Nana, brother, uncle and various friends cheered them on. We all had a good time.

Two days of thunderstorms and two days of glorious sunshine. Hot and humid but I'm not complaining (even though I don't like hot and humid) because it is beautiful out.
Got some sewing done.
I made two stars with the freezer paper piecing method. I was quite surprised how easy it was. It is amazing that after 25 years of quilting I have never tried this. I will definitely do this again.
Then I made the Log Cabin Star Block. I am really enjoying making the Primitive Primer. Don't know why I waited so long to work on it. I've had the book for years.
The latest Barbara Brackman CW block. Not real happy with the way it turned out so I plan on redoing the block. I am having fun with these blocks.
I've seen so many curved flying geese projects lately and wanted to try it myself. Don't ask me how I came up with this one. I traced around a roll of tape on vellum paper and then traced around the inner ring of an embroidery hoop. Then I drew lines cutting across the ring and then drew the triangle units. I made a copy of it just in case it actually turned out so I could make more of them. I added 1/4" seam allowance inside and outside the circle. I cut the pattern at the bottom of one of the triangles. That made it easier to sew. Once all the flying geese were made I trimmed the ends to 1/4" so I could sew the ring together.
Now my big question is....What do I do now? lol

I don't know what it is like where you live but here in SE Michigan we've been getting one good day for every 2-3 rainy days. Yesterday we had some horrible thunderstorms. Today we have had rain off and on. It wasn't too bad this morning so Hubby and I went to Metro Beach and walked. It was fine when we started out but the wind picked up and the temperatures dropped while we were walking back to the car.
Earlier in the week we went for a walk and the sun was shining.
We weren't the only ones walking. The goose family were taking the little ones out for a walk.
The swan was still sitting on her nest so no little ones there yet.
I've been doing a little sewing on the rainy days.
I got the last 2 Barbara Brackman CW blocks done. I look forward to every Saturday when she gives us another block.
I totally forgot about my Farmer's Wife blocks. So Tuesday I drew up blocks 9-12 on EQ and printed up the rotary cutting directions and worked on these. 12 done and so many more to go. I like having so many different projects going at once. If I get tired of one, I jump to another.
Today's mail brought me the Lapel Stick I won at Hollyhock Quilts. And it came at a great time. I'm working on May's Henrietta Whiskers block and was going to spend the evening thread basting the pieces down. Now I can try out the Lapel Stick. I'm hoping it will save me lots of time.
Where ever you live I hope you are safe and sound. We don't need any more rain, flooding, high winds and tornadoes.
