Flowers Block F

Bluebells...

They are such a pretty flower.  This block was rather easy to make.

Next month Karen and I are going to mix it up a bit and do 2 blocks for showing on the 15th.  I'm loving how this quilt is coming together.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out Karen's block.

Hot Time

Summer in the City....

This makes for a good time sewing in the air conditioned sewing room.

I finished the next round of blocks for my Walnut Grove Sampler quilt.

This round called for 18 Friendship Stars.  Next round is 22 Snowball blocks and the final group is 26 pinwheel blocks.  This may take a while.

I finally got caught up on my Simple Sampler Blocks.  Blocks 7 thru 14.

Just in time for the next set of blocks.  They should be posted today.

Be sure to stop back on the 30th.  Karen and I will be posting the 6th block in the "Flowers" quilt.

Thanks for stopping by.

Here is Block E, Coxcomb and Hearts.

Be sure to check out Karen's block.  It's been fun having someone to keep me on track.

We will reveal Block F on the 30th.  This will be our 6th block and 5 to go.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Day in the U.P.

In case you were wondering U.P. stands for Upper Peninsula.  The upper part of Michigan.

We finally got a chance to go to the UP to visit my son and his family.  We left last week on Thursday.  It was bright and sunny.  We got half the way to the Mackinaw Bridge and it started to rain...and it rained for the rest of the day, all night and into the next day.

No plans for Friday, we just took it easy.  Saturday we went for a ride and did some hiking.

We started out walking down to a one lane bridge that until 7 years ago was in use.

If you look closely you can see the new bridge.

We next headed to Lake Superior.

This is a picture of Granite Island.

There was a beautiful coast line.  This area used to be a State Campground until it got trashed.  It has since been closed.  People still camp there and it looks like they party hardy....

Off again we headed for Cannon Falls.

Terry and I didn't make it all the way to the end of the walk.  His bad knee and my sinuses made us turn back.

On the walk back I saw this pretty yellow flowers.

And then the rains came again and that was it for our day in the U.P.

Back home on Monday.  Recuperating on Tuesday.  Sewing room on Wednesday.

I made this using some left over Jelly roll strips I had from a prior project.  I really liked the way it turned out.  I have the backing and batting cut out and hope to get it pinned and ready for quilting this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll leave you with one last photo.

Prim Quilt Swap

Good morning from rainy, windy and very overcast Marquette.  We finally got a chance to come up and visit my son and his family.  It rained coming up, overnight, and now today.  It's okay because we get to visit.

Now the quilty stuff.  I belong to a Facebook group called "Prim Folk Art Quilts".  Recently they had a quilt swap.  We were to make a Prim quilt with flowers.  It was to be between 15" to 20".   It sounded like fun so I signed up.

Here is the quilt I made.

The center flower pot is a design by Cheri Payne, from her pattern Camp Quilts.  I designed the border.  The recipient was very happy with the quilt.

This is the quilt I received.

It was made by Lorraine Hofmann.  It is a Jan Patek patter and the fabrics were designed Jan Patek .

This was a fun Quilt Swap and I was really happy with what I received.

Well, back to visiting with family.  Hopefully the rain will stop so we can go out for a while.

Have a great weekend.
