It 's Raining....

It's pouring....and my dog is snoring.  Really, she's snoring.  LOL

I've been getting some hand applique done.

This is Sally Post block 8.

And this is block 9.  I am working on block 10, it's almost done.  I have started prepping blocks 11 and 12 and I pulled out the pattern for block 3 for the Red and Green BOM.  Hopefully i can finish prepping them today.

So what did you think of the Super Bowl.  What an outcome.  I'm not a big fan of football but I did like the half-time show.  Love Lady Gaga.  Since I don't care for football I decided to start quilting my Westering Women quilt.

If you remember, I spent almost an entire day pin basting this quilt so I could machine quilt it.  Then I decided to hand quilt it using #12 Pearle cotton and doing a big stitch.

I usually thread baste a quilt I am going to hand quilt.  But I wasn't about to take all those pins out and then thread baste it.  It worked out pretty good with the pins.  My hoop worked pretty good.  So one block done and 11 to go.

Today is the 7th anniversary of my Dad's passing.  It was Super Bowl Sunday and his beloved Steelers were playing.  He didn't get to see the game.  I miss him so very much.  I spent the last four years of his life living with him in the upper peninsula.  I am so very happy to have spent that time with him.  Love you Dad.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope your week is going well and that you get some time to be creative.

Hugs, Cathy

I have been missing my dad and FIL lately. My dad was good for politic talk, my FIL for football.

Pretty, pretty blocks. And it's crunch time when deciding whether to hand quilt or machine sew a quilt. So glad you are happy with the hand work. Continued happy stitching to you!

Wonderful Sally Post blocks. It will be nice to have a few prepped and ready to go just in case another rainy day comes along or more snow

We've been having multiple snow days back to back with sunshine today..my camera battery died while taking some today so I have to wait for it to take some more.

Love all your blocks, a good day to stitch when it is raining or snowing.

Nice job on the applique blocks!
I really like the looks of your big stitch quilting in contrasting thread. Really adds to the look.
My Dad's been gone about 6 weeks now. It is hard to realize he is really gone, he was so alert and with us until the last week.

LOVE your Sally Post blocks, that's going to be a really sweet quilt! I dislike football intensely, but watched this one - I agree, what an outcome! I also enjoyed the half-time show, can't stand her name or her videos [creepy] but she's an extremely talented young lady.
I always pin baste for hand quilting. I don't use a hoop, though. Sometimes my thread gets caught on a pin, but it's worth it to me because it's faster to pin baste, lol.
So sorry about your dad hon...I'm very glad too that you got to spend that time with him, what a blessing that is.

Love your hand quilting, I should really do some more of that but tend to use the machine instead... how lovely that you were able to spend time with your dad before he passed, you must miss him a lot. xx

I love your applique - so pretty - and a good thing to do on a snowy or rainy day.

Your quilting looks great! That can be such a soothing job.
