Out of this World Update

Almost done.  I just finished the 9th month.

This month we made 2 sections.

Here is all of my blocks up on the design wall.  Looks like we have one more block to make and this will be done.  Many thanks to Pat Sloan for another wonderful sew along.

Thanks for stopping by.

Some BOM's

It's that time of the month...BOM's

I just finished this month's Cheddarback Quilt blocks.

Some of the placements are a little different.  This is going to be a very large quilt.  I have this month's blocks sewn to the first 5 month's blocks and it is so long I couldn't find a place to lay it all out.  Therefore you just get these blocks.

The following is Block 8 for Pat Sloan's "Out of This World" BOM.

The following picture is for Julie and Carole.

I went through my project boxes and found my Dear Jane blocks.  I have some duplicate blocks.  I originally wanted all white backgrounds and then changed my mind and decided to do different backgrounds.  Not sure I'm going to work on this right now as I've got too many projects going on.

We should be finishing up Dearest Boy.  The Cow block will be revealed at the end of the month.

Karen, Nanette and I are going to be starting a new applique quilt starting in September.  "Celebrating Mary Brown".   I'm also going to start working on Kim McLean's "Lollipop Trees".  So I'm going to be keeping busy as the temps get cooler.

If anyone want to join us in Celebrating Mary Brown let Karen or myself know.  We will have info regarding the schedule later this month.

Just when I thought it was getting cooler out the heat and humidity is back.  So I will be staying in the air conditioned house and working on Dearest Boy.

Thanks for stopping by.

Dearest Boy

We are so close to the end.  I chose to do a pieced block for the last 10" block.  The block is called "Turkey Tracks".  Here is my version.

I like my version.

I put all the blocks up on the design wall.  Then I sewed the different sections together.

The empty spot in the center is for the cow.  I start on this block next week.

Be sure to stop by and visit Karen'sJulie's and Carole's blogs to see what they have been up to.

I finished 2 more Sally Post blocks.

Block 22

Block 23

I need to finish another 13 blocks and then do the setting triangles.  I'm sure I can finish this before the end of the year.

Finally the next block from Pat Sloan's BOM Out of this world.  I've ad it finish for quite a while but keep forgetting to post a photo.

Thanks for stopping by.  Our week has started out with heat and humidity once again.  So I'm sticking close to home in the air conditioning.

Dearest Boy and more

Time is flying.  I can't believe after this reveal we will be starting the last row of our Dearest Boy quilt.  I am ready to get this quilt done.

This month's block is the strawberry block.  I didn't do the flowers...I'm just really busy.  But I think it looks fine.

I've got such a busy second half of the month so I'm not sure if I will get the next block finished or not.

My Upper Peninsula Granddaughter Ashley (the hockey player) is graduating from High School.  She is having a graduation party on the 25th and we will be going up early and coming home after Memorial Day.  So not sure if I will get the next block finished.

Be sure to stop by Karen's , Julie's and Carole's Blogs to see what they have done.

I also worked on my Cheddarback quilt blocks.

 Here are this months blocks.

Here are all the blocks sewn together.  I am really loving this quilt.

Next we have the May block for Pat Sloan's BOM Out of This World.

I haven't worked with Batiks in a while and I like how the blocks are turning out.

Another of Pat Sloan's quilt alongs...Flower Bouquet.  This on is a block a week.  I just got the pattern for the last block section so I can finish this quilt up.  Here is Block 19.

Well thank you for stopping by.  I hope you are enjoying some beautiful weather like we are.  Today I met my daughter at a park near her work and we walked on her lunch hour.  It's been quite a while since I have walked due to bad weather and I felt every step.  But it was great to get out and spend some time with her.

BOM Updates

This week has been spent catching up on BOMs that I've been working on.

First up is the Cheddarback Quilt.  Here are the blocks for the 2nd month.  Don't look too closely at the bottom right hand block.  I know it's wrong.  I sewed the block 3 times and kept getting it wrong.  Don't know why.  Finally I gave up.  So instead of a pinwheel I have a broken dish...lol

I've combine them with the blocks from last month.

I am really enjoying this BOM.

Next up is Pat Sloan's Out of the World BOM>

I was a little off on my piecing.  I guess I need to do some reverse sewing and try again.

Pat also has another free quilt along.  It is called Flower Bouquet and is a block a week.

This is Block 13.  7 more blocks to go.

I finished the next Dearest Boy block.  It will be revealed on the 15th of this month.

I'm trying to get all my BOM's up to date so I can start on this month's UFO.

Thanks for stopping by.

Change of Plans

I had originally planned on working on my Sally Post Blocks as my March UFO.  However, I have so much going on right now that I need something to work on that I should be able to finish this month.

So my March UFO is now the 2016 Sugar Block Club BOM.

The blocks are 12" and there are a total of 12 blocks.  I am using a line by Robyn Pandolph.  One of my daughters said she really liked the fabrics so if it gets finished it will be a gift for her.

I finished another 2 blocks for Pat Sloan's Flower Bouquet Block of the week.  These finish at 12".

Just a note....the background fabrics are the same color.  But they look totally different depending on the time a day they are photographed.

This is the block for March for Pat Sloan's Out of the World BOM.  This block is 16" finished.  This month I need to make 4 identical blocks.  They will be the 4 corners of the quilt.

My ongoing projects that are keeping me busy are Dearest Boy, Sprouts BOM, and this month starts Sentimental Stitches "Cheddarback" BOM.  Needless to say that is why I am going for an easier UFO.

The weather is still very cold with occasional snow.  This gives me another excuse to stay in my sewing room.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find something to your liking.

An Update

Lots of bad weather and a lot of sewing being done.

I started the Barbara Brackman new BOM "Hospital Sketches".  However since I'm already working on too many projects I opted on doing the smaller version of the blocks called "Sprouts".

Very doable with the time I have available.  Cute too!.

My UFO for February is my "Simple Summer Sampler" by Sentimental Stitches.  I started out needing to make an additional 33 blocks.  I'm happy to say I only have 5 blocks left to make.  Hopefully I will have a quilt top by the end of the month.

I couldn't get all the blocks together at once on my design wall so I had to take 2 photos.  5 blocks to go and I can start assembling the quilt.

I finally got the red border done on my Folk Flowers quilt.

I'm not in a rush to finish this one.  The next border will be the same fabric as the applique blocks and will have vines, flowers and birds appliqued.

Next up is Pat Sloan's "Flower Bouquet" BOW.  A new block pattern is given every Wednesday for 20 weeks.

I didn't realize when I started working on this that I am using the same fabrics in my "Simple Summer Sampler".  However I am using the same background fabric in all of the Flower Bouquet blocks.

And finally the second block in Pat Sloan's "Out of this World" BOM

I'm using batiks and a background fabric with writing on it.

So you can see with the snow, sleet and winds I've had plenty of time to get some sewing done.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed my projects.

Hugs, Cathy
