Keeping Busy

I've started so many new BOMs that I have to keep them all written down so I can keep track of them all.

In my last post I shared a photo of my Cheddarback blocks for the month.  Now I will share 4 more BOMs.

1.  Quilt Doodles.  These blocks are 20".

I'm making my blocks scrappy looking using different reds and whites or off whites.

2.  Pat Sloan's Out West.

I bought a FQ bundle for this.  I liked the dark blue so much that I purchased some yardage of it to use for the border and binding.

3.  Barbara Brackman's Yankee Notions.

I am using the same background in all my blocks.  I am really loving the grays and tan fabrics.

4.  Minick and Simpson's Derby House.

For this BOM I receive the patterns and fabrics each month.  I absolutely love the fabrics.

I have a finish to show you.

This is a 2016 Sugar Block club BOM.  I've shown pictures of the quilt top that I finished last year.  Well I got it sandwiched and machine quilted using my free motion foot.  Then I sewed on the binding.  While doing this I noticed how bad the quilting was....I mean really bad.  So what I ended up doing is taking out the machine stitching one block at a time and then hand quilting the block using gray #12 Perle cotton.  I really like how it turned out.

Here is a close up.

I have so many UFO's and tops that need quilting.  I'm slowly working on them.  I have chosen my next UFO to work on.  It is a quilt inspired by the Fat Quarter Shop's Patchwork Quilt Along.  There are 12 different blocks but I have chosen to only use 3.

I plan on doing a row of each different pattern.  You might remember that I started working on this as a wedding quilt for my Grandson.  They didn't want brown.  So I made a different quilt for them.  The quilt will be 8 blocks by 9 blocks.  3 rows of each block.  The blocks are 5" finished, the sashing is cut 1 1/2" and finish at 1", and I have made corners stones out of the blues.

I want to thank you for stopping by.  I hope you found something you like.

Dearest Boy and More

Boy this month is flying by.  It is time to share the next block in our Dearest Boy journey.

This block gave me fits.  It is wonky but I'm happy with it.  I really need to start working on the center cow block.  I keep putting it off because it is a large block.

Please be sure to stop by Karen'sJulie's and Carole's Blogs to see their versions.

I'm excited to say that I got my March UFO finished.  It is a Sugar Club BOM from 2016.  I started out with 6 blocks.  I finished sewing the top together this morning.  I'm going to see if I can get it quilted this month.

For the most part the fabrics are low volume.  Not what I'm used to.

I made the next Sprouts block for Barbara Brackman's Hospital Sketches.

The sprouts fit better in my time available.  Although I really wan to eventually make the larger blocks.

On a final note my grandson Brian and his wife Jess finally got to go on a honeymoon.  The flew into Paris and left the next day to Morocco.

They booked a camel riding tour.  They are having a blast.

Enjoying the sites....Today they leave for Greece.  I love the sense of adventure these two kids have.  They are the best.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you found something of interest.

Change of Plans

I had originally planned on working on my Sally Post Blocks as my March UFO.  However, I have so much going on right now that I need something to work on that I should be able to finish this month.

So my March UFO is now the 2016 Sugar Block Club BOM.

The blocks are 12" and there are a total of 12 blocks.  I am using a line by Robyn Pandolph.  One of my daughters said she really liked the fabrics so if it gets finished it will be a gift for her.

I finished another 2 blocks for Pat Sloan's Flower Bouquet Block of the week.  These finish at 12".

Just a note....the background fabrics are the same color.  But they look totally different depending on the time a day they are photographed.

This is the block for March for Pat Sloan's Out of the World BOM.  This block is 16" finished.  This month I need to make 4 identical blocks.  They will be the 4 corners of the quilt.

My ongoing projects that are keeping me busy are Dearest Boy, Sprouts BOM, and this month starts Sentimental Stitches "Cheddarback" BOM.  Needless to say that is why I am going for an easier UFO.

The weather is still very cold with occasional snow.  This gives me another excuse to stay in my sewing room.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find something to your liking.
