Every Month is a New Beginning

I love the beginning of the month.  I write up my list of what I want to accomplish.  I have my BOM's, new projects and my APQ UFO of the month.  I try and keep the list to 10 projects.  More than 10 and I won't get them all done.  Less than 10 and I'm running around looking for something to do.

1. This month's APQ UFO for May is #11, Fig Tree Quilts Strawberry Garden.  I had 7 months finished.  I started working on Month 8.  This is the first month that we started putting sections together.

I had to make a few blocks but mostly I made filler blocks.  It was really nice to see the quilt taking shape.  I've got the blocks that I made for Month 9 up on my design wall.  I still have to make a few more blocks and then filler blocks and borders.

2.  I got my monthly packet of fabrics and patterns for the Manchester by the Sea by Fig Tree Quilts.  The colors in this quilt make me so happy.

The sailboats or Dinghy's as the pattern calls them are so adorable.

3.  Bee in My Bonnet Sew Happy Quilt.

One of these cherry blocks will in the center of a Hole in the Barn Door block and the others will stand alone.  These blocks are 4 1/2".  I only work on these when I need a quick project to work on.

4.  My final project is 4" bow tie blocks.

I have a bag of plaids and stripes and when I get a few spare moments I pull out my Electric Accuquilt Cutter and my Bowtie die and cut away.  This will be an on- going project.  No end in sight.  When I get enough for a quilt I'll stop.

I did start working on some of these projects April 29th.  The rest I started on May 1st. I feel very accomplished.  It's a good feeling.

Tuesday I went to the Urologist for my 6th month check up after having Bladder Cancer Surgery.  I go every 3 months and have a cystoscopy.  Good news every thing looks good.  So back again in August.

I hope you are enjoying some good weather.  Our weather has been good one day and rain the next.  I'm learning to enjoy the good ones.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I Know....

I haven't been around lately.  I've been up and I've been down, I've been busy and I've been idle.  But now I'm here.  Almost didn't make it.  I recently downloaded Windows 10.  I love many aspects of it, but when I went to download new photos it took forever to figure it out.  Any way I did and here we are.

It's the end of the month and time to post photos for the sew along I'm doing with Karen at Log Cabin Quilter from the book by Jenna Kimble "Old Voices New Impressions".  Each month we work on 4 blocks.  Last month I got 5 done.  This month 4 blocks.  I find that as I work on the blocks I don't really like them.  But once I am done and have pressed the blocks I love them.

This block is called Beth's Bird.

This is Morning Glories.

This block is Tulips.

The last is Cherries and Strawberries.  I just finished this one yesterday.

Like I said I've been up.....We went and visited my son and his family in the upper peninsula for a week.  Normally when we head north the temps are cooler.  This time it was HOT and HUMID.  And they don't have air conditioning. But it was so wonderful to see them.  My granddaughter was done with hockey, but signed up for Tennis.  She plays for the High School.  Yep...she is in High School now.  Where does time go.

And I've been down....I was sick with food poisoning...or so we thought.  Still having problems so my doctor scheduled a Colonoscopy...ugh, for Sept. 14.  I think the stuff you have to drink is worse than the procedure.

I still managed to get a few things done in the sewing room.

This is a quilt top I made from blocks I received from a block swap I participated in with Bumble Beans.  The blocks are made with made fabric.

I also manage to make this little quilt.  It will fit on my quilt table frame.  It is 13" square.

I joined in on the bow tie swap Barb at Fun with Barb.  I joined in both groups. Modern and CW Repro fabrics.  I have my bright Modern fabric blocks made. $40 sets.  I have the fabric cut out for the Repro blocks.  I so enjoy Barbs Block swaps.  The last swap was 9 patch blocks.  It is nice to see all the different fabrics everyone uses.

Now I need to pick out the next four blocks for the sew along and get the pieces prepped.  Get my background fabric for the Repro Bow ties cut out and start sewing them.  I have one gift quilt almost finished and then I have to start quilting it.  So much to do and so little time.

I hope you have enjoyed your summer.  I'm so looking forward to Autumn, cooler weather and changing colors.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Ohio Sampler and More

The weather is beautiful, the temps are up....and I've got another head cold and congested...ugh!

I did get another block made for my Ohio Collection Quilt.

This is the Love Apple block.  I love how it turned out.  Next I plan on working on the feathered star.  I was planning on making it this week till I started getting congested again.

Earlier in the week I started working on this mini Bow Ties quilt.

I made this using the charms left over from the Jacob's Ladder quilt.  I took pictures so next week I'll try and post another tutorial.

After I got my Accuquilt Go I purchased the smaller Tumbler Die.  It is the perfect size for charm squares.  I cut a bunch of them and sewed these 4 rows.  It is going to be a table runner.

Taking it easy today.  Tomorrow my Grandson Brian graduates from Central Michigan University.  It will be a long day.  We have a 3 hour drive one way.  Lunch out with the family before hand, Graduation ceremony and another 3 hour drive home.  But well worth every minute.

Enjoy the weather and thanks for stopping by.

My House Found a Home...

A Primitive home that is.  Here is my house block for the Primitive Primer.  When I sewed the first couple of rows together I goofed...so I pulled out a quilters best friend (seam ripper) and redid the rows.  Then I goofed again.  I cut sections wrong... so now the door is on the left side of the house instead of the right side.   But I do love how it turned out.  Now I have to start work on the vase of flowers applique blocks.  This has been soooo much fun.

I also got 3 more bow tie blocks made and 3 more Floribunda blocks.  Hoping to get more done today but not sure.....

You see I have a house guest for the weekend.  And he is a demanding guest.  He wanted to go for a walk as soon as he got here.  For such a tiny little fellow Bear (yes his name is Bear) dragged me down the sidewalk.  I almost had run to keep up with him.  He follows me where ever I go.  I am so afraid he will get lost in my sewing room, he could end up in a quilt.

The weather is wonderful, sun is shinning, slight breeze and just plain beautiful.  And the count down is on.   NINE days till I leave on vacation.  I can't wait.

Wishing you a quilty day.

Hugs, Cathy
