Land of Liberty Part2

I had a productive weekend.  I finished section 2 of the Land of Liberty sew along that Lori at Humble Quilts is hosting.

I tried making the primitive stars with no luck.  They turned out very wonky and just wouldn't work.  I made the floating Sawtooth Stars instead.  I used my Accuquilt Go to make the flying geese.  They went together so easy.

Here are sections 1 and 2 sewn together.

I am so loving this.  Thanks Lori for hosting this sew along and posting sizes of blocks.  And thanks to Cheri Payne for designing such a wonderful quilt.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy

Looking very good. You are keeping up with all the block of the months, week, or whatever. Me, not so good at doing that.

No sense struggling over a block when you can easily substitute something else. Good plan.

All your blocks are looking great! I had a hard time resisting this project--may have to jump in eventually--haha! I don't think it's a bad thing to sub out your stars--it makes your quilt all the more special.

Great work, Cathy.
I think it is smart to sub in what works for you. You will be happier with the final result and your quilt will be uniquely yours!

The little embroidery under the words is delightful. Everything looks so great all together. It's hard just sewing one unit at a time but now that we have enough blocks to sew together it's a beauty. The angel's smile says it all!

I really really favor your stars. That was a great design idea. I am not overly thrilled with mine. I didn't follow the pattern I used very well and they got a bit wonky. It is crazy because I have made them recently for another project and they turned out. Oh well, they are done.

Your eagle and angel are lovely too!

I hadn't seen your previous work on SLOL so I decided to hunt you down. I really like the background fabric you used for the cabin block. It sets it off nicely. The colors are so evenly assembled in this unit. I love the eagle color and fabric and the addition of your initials and year. Are you using needleturn applique, I can't see close enough in your pictures? Regardless, it looks very nice. We seem to have a similar color sense.
Enjoy the next section 'cause it will take you a while.
