It's Steaming Here....

I don't do well in hot humid weather.  We don't have central air, just a room air conditioner in our bedroom.  So needless to say I was thrilled when hubby took me to get an air conditioner for the sewing room.  I'm so happy.

Now to share what I've been up to lately.

As you know I joined in with Karen to start working on a sew along making the quilt from Old Voices New Impressions by Jeanna Kimble.  Today we are sharing
our first blocks.

I am sooooo loving these blocks.  Can't wait to start on the next one.

I've also been working on Christmas gifts.

Another wonky picture...lol.   All the blocks are made and now I just need to sew them together.  Hopefully today.

Time to get busy on this quilt.  I lost interest for a while, now I'm ready to get cracking again.  This is another Christmas gift.

I got another new die for my Accuquilt go.  It is a half hexagon.  The sides are    4 1/4" finished.  I pulled out a bunch of fabrics I had in a shoe box.  Wasn't quite sure what to do with them.

So I started cutting out pieces until.....

I had enough blocks for this.  It is 52 1/2" x 55 1/2".  It is going to be our new picnic quilt.

It is amazing what I can get done when I am comfortable and cool.

I hope the weather is cool where you are.  We are in the hi 80's but it is going to cool off some next week.  Hopefully the high humidity will be gone.

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy

Wow--all your projects are looking great! We don't have central air either--there's nothing worse than high temps with high humidity--ugh. Thankfully we have had some cooler weather the last couple days--hope it continues! Enjoy your sewing in the air conditioning.

Oh, thank you DH for the AC! I don't tolerate heat/humidity well, either.
Your blocks are so pretty. I am going to love seeing these quilts grow.
I'll bet people clamor to get on your Christmas list. : )

The heat and humidity can really drain a person of all energy. I'm glad you are cooler and can keep up with all of your creativity.

I love the fabrics in that picnic quilt! I need to get my GO out to cut squares to start making connector hexies.

Ooops, forgot to add: thank goodness for air conditioning. Warm or hot temperatures are bad enough, but add humidity to the mix and it's pretty unbearable. Ugh.

It's the humidity that just drains the life out of you. But look what you've accomplished despite all of the heat. The fabric you chose for the hexies really have an antiqued look and your appliqués are fantastic. Enjoy your new cool digs.

You got a lot done along with doing five Old Voices blocks! The hexie blocks are very nice both in color and tone and the way they are put together. I am so glad you are joining in on the Old Voices and your blocks are well done.

We would have a very hard time living in Florida without air-conditioning. It went out a couple months ago and the repair man made it here in about an hour.

Oh my goodness I would be dying without AC. So glad you are getting some in your sewing room. I bet you stay there all day. :0)
I saw Karen's blocks. Yours and hers are so pretty. It is going to be a pretty quilt and you will have it done in no time the way you guys are going.

That's what I remember about Michigan summers - heat and humidity (and mosquitoes). ugh!!! We have had an unusually hot and dry summer. So, not much humidity, but still waaayyyy too hot for me!

You have gotten a LOT done! I'm impressed! Love the blue and tan top. And your half-hexies are impressive. Your applique blocks are beautiful!
