So Many Projects

So little time....

I just finished testing a pattern for a designer.  Will share as soon as I can. That took up three days.

I made the quilt top for the Doll Quilt Swap I signed up for at Humble Quilts. I wish I could show you but I can't till it's done and on it's way.

I'm working on the border for a quilt I started early last year.  It's an appliqued vine.  So nothing to show you there.

But I do have one block to show you.  It is a block from Cheri Payne's Common Threads Series.

There are 4 blocks in each pattern.  She just came out with 2 more patterns in the series with 4 blocks each.  Of course I ordered them.  I still have to make the other 3 blocks from this pattern.  It should make a very nice quilt.

Well that is it for today.  Our snow is finally gone.  It is suppose to rain most of the day so I guess I might get some more sewing done.  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

A Finish and a Start

Since I finished my to do list I started a few new projects.

This is a little quilt I made.  Not sure what I'm going to do with it.  But I have a couple of people that this would work in their bedrooms or living rooms.

I ordered some scrap backs and had some gray fabric lying around so I thought I would do the Aurifil BOM.  The prints used were all scraps.  I had to add some fabric to make it work as some of the pieces were longer than my scraps.  This is totally outside my color wheel...but I like it.

I'm always a little late to the party.

I've seen a lot of quilters have been doing the APQ SAL.  Since I had a little time on my hands I thought I would give it a try.  I love this block.  A little time consuming cutting all the little pieces but well worth it.  This is going to be my Sunday sewing project.  It will be scrappy and each block is going to have a different red and blue fabric.  I think I am looking at my next bed quilt.

On a weather note....snow is almost gone but the temps are in the 20's and we are expecting that nasty white stuff in the mail tomorrow.  Meanwhile I sit in my cozy sewing room finishing projects, starting new ones and dreaming about I want to make in the future.

I hope you had a great weekend and a great week.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

The last things on my list were 10 Jacobs Ladder Blocks....

Next month I need to make 8 more blocks and I will have enough blocks for a quilt.

I also finished my Bluebird challenge quilt.  But I cant show it until next month.

I want to share with you that Lori @ Humble Quilts is have a Doll Quilt Swap. I signed up.  Today is the last day to sign up.  Click here to read about and sign up if you are interested.

8 Down - 2 To Go

I am whittling down my "To Do" list.

I finally finished the Hip Chicks March BOM's.

These were suppose to be Fusible Applique.  But I'm trying to hone my applique skills.  So the first 2 blocks are needle turn applique.  The third block was a little difficult to figure out.  What I ended up doing was English Paper piecing and then appliqued it to the background.  These were a challenge as the blocks finish at 6".

I have my Bluebird challenge quilt sandwiched and ready to hand quilt and I have 4 Jacobs Ladder blocks made with 6 to go.  When done, this will finish my "To Do" list.

Hope you are having a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

A Finish and a Win

I've got another finish.

I finished Sammie's Quilt.  She loves to cuddle up with a warm quilt.  I did some zigzag quilting that I saw in another quilt in a magazine.  I like how it turned out.

I am almost done with my "To Do" list.  I finished my Primitive Primer top, Sammie's quilt, 20 Shoo fly Blocks, 4 of my 5 BOM's.  I have 2 of the 3 Hip Chicks blocks done for March and my Blue Bird Challenge is ready for quilting.

The only thing left is 10 Jacobs Ladder Blocks.  I made 2 blocks with 8 to go.

Now for the win....  Last week Heather at Happy Appliquer had a giveaway.  And I won.

This book was written by her son Kevin wrote a book on Applique.  I love this book.  It shows you how to do every form of applique....needle turn, machine, fusible and prepared edge.  He also has some really great projects.  If you haven't seen it yet go to amazon and check out a few of the pages.  It is really a great book.

Well Mother Nature is not done playing tricks on us.  Tuesday we got 7" of snow.  Yesterday morning it was 1 degree out.  This morning it was 31 degrees out.  And in a couple of days it is suppose to be in the 20's.  I am so over this weather.

I hope it's nice where you are and that you have some great plans for the weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

A Couple of Finishes

I took a break from working on my "To Do" list for a couple of days.  I was going through some of the wire baskets I keep fabric in and I found some finished wall quilt tops that needed to be quilted.  So I spent the day getting three of them sandwiched and another day to get 2 of them quilted.

First up is Pink Lemonade....

Many of you know that this was a QAL hosted by Lori at Humble Quilts.  I machine quilted this with straight lines on the diagonal.  The pink fabric was some vintage fabric I was saving for just the perfect project.

Next up is a Doll Quilt...

Another machine quilted project.  I was happy with the way it turned out.

I usually hand quilt these little quilts....however, I have so much going on and they would have ended up in yet another forgotten spot.  So in order to get some projects finished I opted to machine quilt.

I have one more quilt ready to machine quilt.  It is a small Log Cabin quilt that was a very first project for me.  It is made from old calico's and polyester fabrics.  My seam allowances were very wonky, therefore the quilt is very wonky.  Not at all square.  But I'm going to practice some free motion quilting on it.  I'll show you when I am done.

I found a couple of hours to work on my Bluebird feed sack project.  I like where it is going.  All will be revealed in April.

Well we finally got some warmer weather.  It is 42 degrees out with blue skies and sunshine.  But alas...back to the 20's later in the week.  And it is suppose to snow again.  I just looked out in the backyard and there are big puddles from the snow melting.  Oh well!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a great start to the week.

A Few More...

Off my list.

I finished the Quilt Doodles March Block.

The blocks for this BOM are suppose to be made of all squares.  I really don't like having to sew all those different 2 1/2" squares together so I redrafted all the blocks.

Here is Jan, Feb and March row and blocks.  Each month is either a block or a row.

I got all the shoo fly blocks made for my gifting quilt.

I really like the looks of these blocks.  I'm going to have to make myself one. Now I need to cut the sashing, corner stones and borders.  The 20 blocks was was on my "To Do" list.

Last month while I was straightening my sewing room I came across some flannel 9 patch blocks that I made many moons ago.  I decided to make our dog Sammie a quilt.  She loves blankets

This morning I got them all sewn together.  I actually found some of the fabric used to make these blocks (Obviously I never throw anything out) and scraped a back together and have cut out the binding from the last of the fabric.  I ordered a silicone mat that fits on my quilting table to help the quilt glide when quilting.  I will need it for this quilt.

The last thing I have to show you is my Primitive Primer.

Again a wonky photo.  But more importantly I finished the last applique border and got it sewn on.   The directions said to add a narrow border to the side and top but I chose to leave it as is.  This quilt now resides on the "To Be Quilted" pile.  And I am embarrassed to say that the pile is now over 3 feet high.  I think I need to get some tops ready for quilting.  And I promise not to post any more pictures of this quilt top until it is quilted.

The patterns for the next 3 6" blocks for the Hip Chicks BOM were posted the other day.  I printed them up and can't wait to finish them.  They are applique blocks.  I started one and will show you when I am finished.

Hope it is nice where you are.  The sun is shining here and the temps are rising....could it be spring in the air.  Gee I hope so.  I still have large piles of snow in the yard that I would love to see disappear.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Busy Weekend

I was busy this weekend.  Knocked off 3 items on my "To Do" list.

First up... Pat Sloan's Globetrotting BOM for March.

Here are Jan, Feb, and March blocks all together.

Next is March block for Sugar Shack BOM.

I love the fabric I chose for these blocks.  Here are Jan, Feb, and March blocks together.

And finally the March blocks for Country Threads BOM.

I am trying to keep these blocks scrappy.  Here are Jan, Feb, and March blocks.  Still don't have a clue what this quilt will look like.

So now I have 3 items scratched off my "To Do" list.

I started one of the projects on my list.  It is the Shoo Fly QAL on Pat Sloan's blog.

I am using a charm pack designed by Jan Patek called "Back Porch".  I am in love with this fabric.

I'm making this quilt for the daughter of my husband's best friend Don's daughter.  Don is about 20 years older than my husband.  He recently lost his wife.  When his daughter was going through her Mom's things she came across her grandmother's Featherweight Sewing Machine.  Debbie doesn't sew and she knows I do...So she gave me the machine.   So this quilt will be my thank you to Debbie.

Didn't get too much done yesterday.  It snowed yet again on Saturday into Sunday.  The roads were so bad that we couldn't get out.  So yesterday was spent going to the post office (mailing the final giveaway book to Patti), grocery shopping, and paying bills.  It took most of the day.  So I am happily going to spend most of the day working on the shoo fly quilt.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you get to do something you love today.

Something New and a Winner

I'm always on Ebay or Esty looking for an old quilt or quilt blocks.  I was on Facebook and saw that Ann Hermes had listed some quilts and blocks for sale.  I couldn't afford the quilts (although I really wanted them).  I saw a block and my heart stood still....

It is so beautiful.  The background has some staining on it...but that is okay. I want to replicate it.  It is 22" square and the roses have reverse applique.

Here is a close up of the rose.

I can't wait to start tracing all the pieces and making one of my own.  Wouldn't it make a beautiful quilt.

I tried to get the link for her shop but it wouldn't work.  But if you go to Esty you can search for annhermes1 and it will take you to her shop.

Now for the WINNER....

Congratulations to Patti who said:

I follow you on bloglovin.  I love your primitive quit, it's gorgeous.

I've sent an email to Patti congratulating her.

Thanks to all that entered and are following.  You have all made my day.

Well, I have printed up the directions for 3 of my 5 BOMs so I think I will keep my self busy on this cold blustery day.  It is snowing and blowing and my sewing room is nice and warm.

Have a great weekend.
