I love these Friday Nights....I plan ahead and have lots to do.

This is my 15 Minutes Play block.  I started out by making fabric from scraps.  I drew the block up using EQ5 and printed up the rotary cutting instructions.  There are 4 blocks so far on the 15 Minutes Play Blog.  This is number 3.

Because of a swap I was involved in the the 15 Minutes Play Blog I got to be friends with Emily at "Em Celebrates"  (A link is on my sidebar on my Blog List.  Go check it out.  She does such beautiful free motion quilting.  Because of our friendship she has pushed me to try FMQ.  I did my first 12" block of practicing my FMQ.  I sent pictures to Emily and she posted them on her blog.  In case you read it I am "Big Girl Pants". 

So last night I sandwiched a 12" block, picked out a variegated thread and started playing.  I think my favorite is the flowers in the left hand corner.  Here are some close up pictures.

After I finished playing I attached some binding.  I like to use up scraps of binding.  It didn't take long at all.

I was up late watching the Detroit Tigers loose.  So I spent part of that time prepping the angel block for the Primitive Primer.

It was a long game and started late as it was in Colorado.  So I was happy to get a lot done.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW AND LOTS OF BLUE

Here's the old.  I finished binding it and I have it hanging in the living room.  Was going to keep it in the sewing room but DH loved it and wanted it in the living room.

Close up of the free motion quilting.  And I promise this is the last time I will post pictures of this quilt.

Now for something new...this is my latest Alzheimer's quilt.  I call it Hugs and Kisses.

I've had this done since Monday but kept forgetting to post a picture.  It is last Saturday's Barbara Brackman Civil War Block.  This is the last of the blue.

Guess what I FINALLY finished?

January's Granny's Hankies BOM.  I'm so glad to have finally finished it.  Now on to February....After I finish March's  Bunny Hill BOM...lol

Still overcast, the sun peeks out once in a while.  I hope this bad weather we are having all over the United States leaves soon.  I hope all my friends in the south are safe.

Two Tutorials to Share

A friend on facebook posted a blog (badskirt) that had a tutorial for this block.  Love the scrappiness of it.  Here is the address for the tutorial:  http://badskirt.blogspot.com/   The block was very easy to make.

Remember this?  It was the first 12" quilt I made for the Something from Nothing Swap.  I decided to keep it and do another.  I signed up for the Free Motion Quilt Challenge and decided to quilt it.

Not sure if you can see but in the corners I did a loopy zig zag to fill in the square.

At the V's I did 3 leaves.  It is not the best job but it is my first attempt at free motion quilting on a project other than a practice piece.  Figured the more I try the better I will get.

I mailed out my Something From Nothing quilt and a little something to some special friends.  So watch your mailbox.

Weather is wacky lately.  Woke up to fog, then rain, then a beautiful sun and now overcast again.  Hope it doesn't rain the Tigers play tonight.

What's Big Yellow Thing In The Sky???

Oh my, I think it is the sun.  It's been so long. 

I've been doing a lot of hand work so there is not too much to share today.  I finished machine quilting my 20 year old Churn Dash quilt yesterday and attached the binding.  I am about half way done stitching the binding down so when I'm done I'll post a picture. 

Since I found my fabric for my Thread Head quilt-a-long quilt, I cut the sashing, border and cornerstone pieces.  There are 2 spaces open for the last block.  Once Joanne posts it I will start finishing sewing the rows together.  I was going to start today but I thought I'd wait.  Besides I keep changing the block placements.

Yesterday I read and watched Joanne's tutorial on doing feather free motion quilting.  It is so informative and very easy to follow.  I'm hoping to find the time to try it today. 

I made the latest Barbara Brackman Civil War Block this morning.  I am really enjoying the history  behind the blocks.   My husband is a big Civil War Buff so enjoys ready about the blocks and the quilts also.

The plan for today is to piece the background for the next Henrietta Whiskers BOM.  These are so cute.  After that its more hand work.
