Summer is Finally Here!!!

The sun is shining and the temps are up...so is the humidity.

I have been working on my June "To Do" list.  I'm going to be 2 blocks short of what I planned to do.  But that is okay.

These are the 5 Log Cabin Bow Tie Blocks.  I've been working on this quilt for about 2 years.  I don't work on it too often.  I had 32 blocks made and now have 37.  Not sure how big I want to make the quilt but I know I need quite a few more.  So I will try and make at least 5 blocks a month.  Obviously I'm not in a big hurry...lol

Next...

I finished another APQ QAL Block.  Another 15 blocks to go.  Another slow but steady quilt.

I finished the binding on my Log Cabin quilt and it is now hanging up on the wall.

It looks so cute hanging in my living room.

I started working on a Season's Block of the Month by Pat Sloan a while ago.  I am such a great fan of her work.  I started this last year in April...and only finished the April block.

This is April's block.

This is the book the quilt is in.

This is the quilt.

This is May's block.

Now I need to get some more blocks prepped.  Hopefully I can get this one done by next year.

The only thing missing from my "To Do" list is some of my Common Threads blocks.  I have the appliqued block prepped.  But I still need to make a couple of pieced blocks.  I guess they will have to wait till next month.

Next month will be a slow sewing month.  Hoping to get away for a couple of weeks traveling.  But we'll see.

For now....thanks for stopping by and keep cool.  Enjoy your weekend.

It's Been Awhile...

10 days to be exact since my last post.  I have lots to show you.

Last year I joined an Internet block swap for a block they called "Japanese X Block".  It was a disaster.  The woman who hosted it sent out changes to the list at least every other day.  The order of who to send to each month changed.  It was chaotic.  I followed the best I could.  Sent out blocks to everyone on the list.  I even sent blocks to the hostess...who BTW didn't send any out to anyone.  Some blocks were well constructed, some were slightly smaller than they were suppose to be and some had seam allowances that were 1/8".  I didn't receive blocks from everyone so I need to make about 14 blocks myself.  But low and behold I can scratch this off my June "To Do" list.

Definitely not my colors or style but it is growing on me.  My husband who likes very traditional quilts said he doesn't know why but he likes it.

With this top made I now have another project box emptied.

Do you see it.  I have a storage unit that I didn't put the doors on.  The top two shelves have my project boxes and the bottom two shelves have my sewing machines on them.  Now I get to find a new project to put in the empty box.

A few more finishes to show you.

 Another Common Threads Block.

Hip Chicks June BOM's.

Quilt Doodles BOM.  The Skates are for June.

Another Sally Post Block.  Not perfect but it is done.

Huckleberry Stitches is hosting a monthly QAL of Kathleen Tracy's quilts (with Kathy's approval).  This month was a log cabin quilt.

I finished the quilt and hand quilted it.  I just need to add the binding which I hope to do today.  I used fabrics I got in a scrap bag of CW reproduction fabrics.

We have been having some terrible storms rolling through and we expect more later today.  The humidity has been high and it has made it hard to sew...but I am bound and determined to get some more projects done.

Oh and yesterday my Amazon Fire TV came.  My son came over and set it up.  I love it.  Especially the remote that I can talk into and it brings up what I want.  I've been watching my Amazon Prime via my computer but this is so much better.

I am going to have a hectic weekend...we are dog sitting my daughter's dog.  His name is Bear and he looks very similar to our Sammie.  They get along great but love to run all over.  Sometimes I have to separate them so they will rest.  It will be interesting.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have seen something you like or that inspires you.  I know I am inspired daily by the blogs I read.

A Few Monthly BOM's

My computer seems to be working okay now.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

I got a few BOM's done for the month.

First up....Sugar Shack

Globetrotting

Country Threads

I am sooooo tired of making these stars.  The big star is 16" and the smaller ones are 8".  I didn't show all the blocks together because some of them are so big.  It is looking pretty busy but we will see how they put all the blocks together at the end of the year.

Aurifil BOM

Not sure about the current block.  I ran out of the turquoise polka dot fabric and ordered some online.  It is more blue and much larger dots.  But we'll see.

It was a busy week.  Felt good enough to go to the Tiger's game with my daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and husband.  The Tigers lost but we had a great time.   I got some sewing done as you can see above.  I even did some rearranging in my sewing room.  However, it is still a mess.  Today we went to the park and walked Sammie.  She ran so much she tired out quickly and just dropped.

So far the beginning of the week is beautiful.  I hope the rest is the same as today.  Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy your week.

June's "To Do" List

But first....Thursday, May 29, was a good day and a bad day.  The good is that I finished a couple of projects.

I finished sewing my "Strips and Square" top together.  It was really a quick top to make.  It would be a great pattern to use if you had to make a quilt in a hurry.

Thursday evening I finished up appliqueing Block #3 for my Sally post sampler.

I had just finished the block and was going to take it into the sewing room to press it and trim it.  I stood up and fell back down on the chair.  All of a sudden I was feverish, chilling and achy all over.  Just that quick.  I have spent the last 3 days in bed with temps going from 96 to 101.  Today is the first day I have felt like sitting up and feel human again.  I've got to feel better because tomorrow my Daughter is taking me to the Tiger game.  This is my Mother's day gift.

Okay now for my June "To Do" List.

Not a whole lot on this month's list.  But I would really like to get some quilts ready for quilting.

I hope you are having a great beginning to June, and thanks so much for stopping by.  I'm hoping to get a little sewing done today.

A Couple of Finishes

Well after a week of continual rain the sun has finally come out.  It is a little cool out but it is beautiful.

Since I finished my May "To Do" I had some time to do a few things.

I know I've mentioned the Monday Mystery's I have done.  They are designed by Sherri K. Falls and are on her blog Little Bits of This and That.  I just finished Monday Mystery #7.  And what is great is that she has all the mystery's listed on her blog.

This is the finished Monday Mystery #7.  I did some echo quilting in the center and border of this table topper.

Then I got another table topper quilted.  It is going to be a Christmas present.

This is another pattern of Sherri's.  What I like about it is that it is made from charm squares.  I made a Christmas version earlier in the year.

I got caught up on Pam Buda's Market Day SAL.

The picture is a little blurry...must be the camera...couldn't be me...lol.  I finished it in time for the next part that will be posted tomorrow.

I keep all the projects I am working on in plastic boxes.  I have the project name labeled on the front.  Since I just finished the Disappearing 4 Patch quilt top I have an empty box.  So that meant I needed to start a new project.  However I'm not sure if this project will reside in the box at all.

I was going through some old magazines looking for a quilt and easy quilt to make.  I found one in the Spring 2013 issue of Fons & Porter's Easy Quilts.  The pattern is on page 86 and it is called Strips and Squares.  It is designed by Tricia Lynn Maloney.  It is very easy to make.  You need 30 Jelly Roll strips and 30 Charm squares.  I used a jelly roll and charm pack that I got from Connecting Threads.  This is what I did yesterday.

I think I would have gotten the quilt top finished (cut and sewn) in one day...but my faithful companion "Sammie" needed a little TLC.  She needed some "lap" time.  I should get the quilt top put together today.

That leaves me with a little dilemma...what to put in the empty project box.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will have a wonderful weekend.

May's "To Do" List

Is done......

1.  Disappearing 4 Patch

Once quilted this is going to my Grandson Brian's girlfriend who just graduated with a Nursing Degree.

2.  Work on Lori & Randy's QAL

 It is ready for quilting.

3.  Sugar Shack BOM

4.  Globetrotting BOM

5. Hip Chicks

6.  Country Threads BOM

7.  Quilt Doodles BOM

8.  Aurifil BOM

 9.  APQ QAL

I noticed when I was writing this post that I made an error on one of the blocks.  Can you pick it out.  I also was trying out a different sashing then the one in the original.

10.  Common Threads Series

Next month I hope to work on the next 4 blocks in the series.

I also finished the top for the "This and That" Mystery Monday quilt.  I haven't gotten a picture of it yet.  And I am working on the Pam Buda Market Day QAL.  Still need to do Fridays part.

So now I have some free time.  Tomorrow we are going to a Memorial Day Parade that my father-in-law will be in.  And I will have some time to sandwich some quilts and get some quilting done.

I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend and thank you for stopping by.
