Mary Brown and Chedddarback

Once again I am late to the party.

I've had my first section of Mary Brown done for a couple of weeks.  I started early.

I have to admit that this one through me for a loop.  But I am happy with my blocks.  I have chosen to do a simple approach to this quilt.  I will not be doing all the wiggle applique but keeping it smooth edged.

I also finished my Cheddarback blocks a while ago but didn't post pictures.

chose to applique my initials and did a slightly different Pine tree block.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy

  3. Simple is good. I somewhat simplified the bird wings and tail but did most of the pineapple as drawn. Wish I had done like you with the pineapple leaves. I will remember to do more of that when it comes up in future blocks. Your pineapple fabric was a good choice. You are off to a running start.

  4. I would like to sew along with you on Mary Brown. I need the incentive. How can I find out which blocks are selected for the month? Thank you

  5. Your blocks for Mary Brown are really lovely. That wiggly applique looks quite challenging, I'll probably change it up too. Your initials for Cheddarback are charming. And I love the little bouquet in your basket.

  6. Your Mary Brown block is beautiful--love it! I'm not sure what the quilt is supposed to look like, but what you've done looks challenging enough. You found a sweet fabric for your basket too--very cute!

  8. Your MB blocks are wonderful. I struggled a bit with some of those squiggles. Think I will give myself permission to smooth them out as you suggest. Great Cheddarback blocks, too. That’s a lot of work.
