July's UFO and a new project.
I didn't have an UFO for June. I had to get caught up on some projects. While going through some piles in my sewing room I came across an old project I had started years ago. Flannel Baskets.
I had these 6 baskets in a plastic bag along with more flannel and the template for the basket. This morning I prepped 5 more blocks. I work on applique in the evenings while watching TV. These blocks will finish at 6 1/2".
My new project is a BOM called Summer Moon designed by Carrie Nelson.
I'm not working in any haste on this quilt. The blocks are very labor intensive.
You make 3 different sizes of each block. A 5" block, 6 1/2" block and an 8" block. Then you add borders on the blocks to make them all 8 3/4".
These are the first 3 blocks. I am going to use different backgrounds. The next block is a Bears Paw block with very tiny pieces for the 5" block. I plan on working on this when I have a few spare minutes.
It has been very hot and humid here. I've basically stayed in the house in the air conditioning. We don't have central air but I have two very good room air conditioners. One in our bedroom and one in the sewing room. They keep the house cool.
I'm off to the sewing room to work on my Cheddarback quilt.
I hope you stay cool and dry wherever you may be.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hugs, Cathy

Just love those soft flannel baskets--really cute...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI bet the flannel is just a joy to applique. It's so soft and compliant. The Summer Moon SAL looks really fun, 3 different sizes will make you a pro in no time. Good Luck on the next Cheddarback blocks. I haven't started the new blocks yet. I'm not looking forward to the house block.
ReplyDeleteSummer fun at your house. Cute baskets and your new projects looks super interesting. Love the fabric direction you've chosen.
ReplyDeleteCathy me encanta tus cestas!!
ReplyDeleteBuena semana
Applique is great while watching TV. You have A/C in the most important spaces! It's very humid in Tokyo (rainy season) but hasn't been too hot yet which is nice.
ReplyDeleteLove those little baskets!!
ReplyDeletecute baskets and I like the new pattern!
ReplyDeleteTrying to play catch-up here - girl, I just love all the blocks and quilts you've shown!!!! That Summer Moon quilt looks like quite the challenge, but your blocks are utter perfection. Stay cool - we've got quite the heat wave coming this week!!!!
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I missed this post. I have the "Summer Moon" pattern. I am getting it as a block of the month. I don't know when I will have time to work on it. Vacation is coming up and I am already working on a new quilt project.
