And trying to keep cool. It's been crazy hot and humid here. With no central air I have been sewing in the basement and it is a lot more comfortable.
Well it's the end of the month and time to share some more projects.
1. Celebrating Mary Brown
I'm working on this quilt with Julie. We are just doing 2 blocks a month. These blocks are 8". The pattern calls for 6" blocks and Julie is making 10" blocks.
3. 3030 Block of the week.
One week we made 4 of the same block, the stars. Then just one. I still have the block for last week to do. It's an appliqued block.
4. Derby House BOM
Here are the pieced blocks. I still have to make the applique block for this month. It is 14" square and is of a house, dog, wagon, and vines. It is very elaborate so I'm taking my time with it so I get it right.
5. Monthly Mini
This is a 12" mini quilt. I didn't get one made last month.
6. Quilts for Christmas gifts.
This is in progress. It's all cut out just waiting for me to sew.
I finished sewing this top together. I need to figure out a backing and how to quilt it. I love how it turned out.
That is about it as far as sewing. The rest of the time I have going for check-ups with my various doctors. Because of covid all my appointments were pushed back. Two weeks ago I saw my Radiation Oncologist. Last week I saw my Oncologist. Monday I saw my family Doctor. Friday I go for a mammogram and ultra sound. Next month I get my eyes checked and have an appointment with the Medicare Wellness Nurse. Whew.....The only time I get out of the house is to see a doctor. So far all my check ups and tests have been good. Once I'm done next month it will start all over in 6 month.
I did manage to go to the grocery store yesterday. It is the first time I've gone shopping since covid. Thankfully the store wasn't crowded. I filled my cart and headed for the check out. All of a sudden there was an announcement saying the registers were down. After 45 minutes they got 2 registers up and running. They stopped allowing customers coming in to the store. With only 2 registers running it took about another 20 minutes before I got out of the store. They had to shut down the 2 registers so they could reboot all of them. I don't think I'll be going back for a while....lol
I hope you are all well and keeping safe. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hugs, Cathy
Well it's the end of the month and time to share some more projects.
1. Celebrating Mary Brown
The sunflowers were suppose to have spiky edges. I chose a more relaxed curve. This is the bottom left block of the four corner blocks for the end of the first 2 rows. I have all four sewn together and will finish them up for August.
2. Mrs. Lincoln's Quilt.

Wow, you've got a bunch of beauties in process! And WHAT?!! How is it you're just going to the grocery store? Milk? I run in usually a couple of times a week just to pick up a couple of things.
ReplyDeleteYour sunflower block turned out very good. I like the fabrics. They play together nicely. Also love the yellow bird for the Mrs. Lincoln block. You have been a very busy bee with all your quilt blocks.
ReplyDeleteI hope you keep getting good reports from your doctor visits.
I don't know how you keep track of all your current projects! You're amazing. Your red and cream mini looks great on its special little hanger. Wow! What a shopping story. That would have made me very anxious about getting out of there. Glad your doc reports are all good. Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are just gorgeous, especially the sunflowers! I'm so glad all your reports are coming back good. We've been getting our groceries delivered, although I did go to a local store for produce, don't like anyone picking that out for me. Mum is starting back to her doctors as well - and I can no longer go in with her!
ReplyDeleteCathy Tienes muchos proyectos en marcha.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta tus girasoles y tu mini mensual
Saludos
The sunflower block looks great. I think relaxed tips on the flowers probably made them a lot less stressful to sew. I've burned myself out on applique. I just seem to sit in front of the machine to sew. Hopefully I'll get my mojo back before too long. I'm sorry the grocery store was such a frustration for you. Everything is harder right now. But, at least there is food in the store for us to buy.
ReplyDeleteGlad things are looking good on the healthfront.
Cathy, all of your blocks look spectacular! I have been working a lot and not quite finished with my blocks for this month, but next day off I will post my finished ones. I love how our quilt is coming along, don't you?
ReplyDeleteI love the sunflowers and all the blocks!! It's really coming together so well...
ReplyDeleteI have only gone to Senior hours for grocery shopping...no where else at all !!
Serious situation...
Stay safe Julierose
Oh my! All that and a mini too?!! You have been busy. Love that sweet little mini. Those Mary Brown blocks are really tempting me too! Thanks for another great mini!!
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly kept busy with all your ongoing projects and all those appointments too. Your little mini for July is so sweet! Shopping has become a nightmare in so many ways, there are shortages still of so many essentials and now canning lids can be added to the list! Oh, they're still available online at grossly inflated prices- like $1.00 or more per lid! One wonders what's next.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on all of your blocks.your MB block is lovely. I recently noticed there is another sunflower block further down in the pattern. Funny, my favorite of your postings is the sweet 9 patch.
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty projects and a cute mini snuck in there too. Love the colors. That’s a lot of doctors appointments - you are intrepid! Hopefully the next grocery run, whenever that is, will be less stressful!
ReplyDeleteYour little red and white mini looks very much like an antique doll quilt. I love it! Nice work on the other projects as well. You've been busy! How frustrating and frightening? your shopping experience, with the delays. Does your grocery store offer online shopping?
ReplyDeleteYou are making excellent use of your time getting all that sewing done. Hurrah! for you! I'm just twiddling my fingers and toes... figuratively not literally.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many lovely projects, but I have to say that your sunflower block really called to me--and also your mini, of course. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad that all of your health related appointments have been good news.
I have no clue how you have gone so long without going to the grocery store. Do you have groceries delivered? I have a very well-stocked pantry, and could probably have kept us alive without shopping, but I would so miss fresh fruits and veggies, and hubby would probably cry if he didn't restock the cheese drawer in the fridge each month. LOL
Hi Cathy , You have been very busy .I love your projects The mini quilt is beautiful. I havent done a mini quilt for ages , you are motivating me to attempt another one.
ReplyDeleteGreat you are having good test results . Stay happy and well.
Jen xx
Wow, you've been busy making beautiful blocks and quilts. I really like your Irish Chain Christmas gift, and the coral/peach and brown fabrics in your Mrs. Lincoln's block are beautiful together.
ReplyDeleteWhen I responded to your comment on my blog I asked about your health. I should have read this post first! So glad to hear that you're doing well. I heard some older person comment that most of her social activities involved visits to doctors. Sometimes it feels that way!
Loved seeing your projects Cathy. We had panic buying of meat where I come from just plain crazy. I was unable to purchase, so made do.
