Month End for April

It seems like April flew by.  I got quite a bit done.

1.  Celebrating Mary Brown.

I actually got 2 blocks done this month.  The first is the applique block.  The second is the block I made to replace the feathered star.

2.  These are the next blocks for Mrs. Lincoln's Quilt.

3. Derby House BOM.

This month all the blocks were pieced.  I love the fabric.

4.  Barbara Brackman's Yankee Notions.

5.  Providence BOM

This is the BOM I get from Connecting Threads.

6.  April's Monthly Mini.

For some reason this reminds me of Christmas.  I just finished this yesterday.

I hope you are all doing well with our Stay at home Staycation?  I've gotten a lot of sewing done.  Besides what I have shown you here I've made face masks for my family.  I've now made 4 for my husband.  He keeps asking for different prints.  Who knew.

I also started a new quilt.  I call it salt water taffy.  I have about 15 blocks made.  I'm going to need about 42 blocks.  I have a photo of the blocks to show next month.

All of my doctor followup appointments have been cancelled with the exception of my surgeon.  I have been having pain in my left breast.  That is the one they removed the cancer.  It's really been bothering me.  So they had me come in and see the Paula, the nurse practitioner.  She gave me so much information and said most of the discomfort I am having is from the radiation treatments.  She also showed me some arm exercise that should help.  I needed refills on my meds.  They won't do that unless you come in and see the doctor.  Since they are not seeing patients except for emergencies I was given a telephone appointment.  I was given a time that the doctor would call.  She asked me a bunch of questions and then sent my prescriptions to the pharmacy.  These times are making an impact every where.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy

  3. I like the design you chose to substitute for the feathered star block. I wrote to you just a few minutes ago telling you about my fiasco in attempting the block.

Again, you accomplished a lot of sewing for the month. Me, I did too but also online shopped and planned more for myself.

It must be scary to have pain in the area you had your surgery and treatments in. I had one medical appointment in April which did not get cancelled. I notice the medical buildings in my area do not have many cars in the parking lots.

  4. The Celebrating Mary Brown blocks look wonderful. I have done applique this month but that didn't include Mary Brown, I need to get busy. Mrs. Lincoln looks great, I especially like the two blues together. Love the blackbird. It just makes me smile. Sorry you're having so much discomfort. I hope the exercises help.

  6. Love your blocks, they are all so pretty!

I am irritated that our governor closed down the local mammogram office. I had an appointment for next Monday but it was rescheduled for June. This will be my second since finishing treatment last year for breast cancer. My surgery was at the end of June 2018 and I still have a little pain in my left breast, too. My doctor assured me it can take a couple years for it to go away. It is a lot better and I am hoping coming up on the two year anniversary of the surgery, it will go away before the end of this year. From what I can tell, the numbness caused by the lymph node surgery started out as being numb but as the nerves have regenerated numbness was replaced first with pain moving up my arm, then the pain has moved up to just the underarm and breast area. It is so much better than it was a few months ago. I keep thinking as the nerves continue to heal, the pain will go away. Hope the same for you.

  8. That is the cutest monthly mini ever! I don't think it looks like Christmas, it says "Spring" to me. And, don't we all need that! Thanks a million, I have linked it in. I am amazed at how many made minis this month in all this craziness! Stay safe and healthy!

  9. Your mini is so sweet! Perfect for most any season I think. You have accomplished a lot this month in your quilting endeavors. I understand the pain you've been experiencing as I went through the same thing 20+ years ago. That side is still sore if any pressure is put on it even after all these years. The radiation treatments were very tough for me too. But it was worth it in the end as I'm still here after all those years!

  10. You have a lot of pretty projects going, and your applique mini is so charming. I think it would be great to display year round. Sorry for your health troubles. There is so much that is getting delayed or changed because of the COVID crisis. I'm glad you got your phone appointment and refills and I hope your pain dissipates. I wish all cancer survivors could have no more pain, ever!

  14. My goodness what lovely blocks, you have been staying busy!!! I'm sorry to hear you're in pain hon, but glad you were able to get meds - it's been difficult. Mom's doctors are not seeing patients and I had to take her to urgent care. Praying you feel better soon!
