Snow, ice, sleet, and slush. Not what I call Spring. The weather here is so strange. But snow and cold makes for good sewing weather.
Here are my 1857 Sampler blocks for February. I had the first 3 done weeks ago. I had a real problem with the circles in the 4th block. I was in touch with Karen at Log Cabin Quilter and told her I was having a real problem with all the circles. She suggested using cardboard template....Light Bulb. I forgot that I had circle templates by Karen Kay Buckley. So I pulled them out, found the correct sizes, followed the directions that came with them and I had perfect circles. Two evenings of appliqueing and they were done.
I have been working on the Temecula Quilt Co. sew along. Not sure if I am going further with it. I kinda like it the way it is. I'm going to add a final gray border and I'll be done.
I have a finish.
I quilted it just doing vertical lines. I finished the binding today and then put it in the washer and dryer. I'm calling it "Gray Skies Churning". This is going to be a Christmas gift. One down and many more to go.
Hopefully our weather will clear up tomorrow. Hubby is going up to his parents to help clean up the snow. I am going out to lunch with my granddaughter Alecia. I just love it when we get together.
Have a great weekend. And stay warm and dry.
Hugs, Cathy
Your finished quilt is beautiful as are the appliqued blocks. I think the Temecula QAL looks perfect at that round.
ReplyDeleteI hope your spring arrives soon.
Love your churn dash, especially the grays!
ReplyDeleteI make the circle shapes all the time & leave them in my circles until I am ready to stitch. I have the circle shapes like you have also but have gotten away from using them.
ReplyDeleteYour new quilt fits your weather......gray skies.
LOVE your Gray Skies Churning - what a perfect name!!! Wow a quilt for Christmas, lucky recipient! I love your blocks, and your circles really are perfect. I like that last quilt just the way it is too, so pretty! Enjoy your lunch with your granddaughter!
ReplyDeleteGray Skies Churning is a very clever name!
ReplyDeleteYour applique blocks are beautiful. Great job on the circles.
Whenever I have seen anyone post their Temecula project at this stage, I have thought that it looked like a great little quilt. I'd probably stop here, too, if I was making it.
Wonderful finish Cathy, and it is for Christmas? Wow, congratulations on the finish and for being so organized.
ReplyDeleteGreeting,
Sylvia

Great name for your churn dash quilt.
ReplyDeleteI have used Perfect Circles so much I am on my second set.
I warped some of them with a too hot iron before I knew better.
I love your Gray Skies Churning. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name for your quilt! It's a beautiful finish, as are all your blocks. I think finishing your Temecula medallion as is will make a very cute small quilt. I plan to go ahead, it would be nice to know how many rounds there will be in the end!
ReplyDeleteGrey Skies Churning is a wonderful finish for this time of the year especially with your recent grey skies. Karen K Buckley's circles are a great notion for making perfect circles. Your circles are proof.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Grey Skies Churning - such a lovely finish!
ReplyDeleteYour 1857 blocks are so pretty!
I also like your sew along quilt and also think it looks really great just as it is. Sometimes you just have to listen to your heart, if you do, in the end you will love your work/quilt more.
Beautiful job on the circles, all your projects are lovely! Hugs, Mary
