I Know....

I haven't been around lately.  I've been up and I've been down, I've been busy and I've been idle.  But now I'm here.  Almost didn't make it.  I recently downloaded Windows 10.  I love many aspects of it, but when I went to download new photos it took forever to figure it out.  Any way I did and here we are.

It's the end of the month and time to post photos for the sew along I'm doing with Karen at Log Cabin Quilter from the book by Jenna Kimble "Old Voices New Impressions".  Each month we work on 4 blocks.  Last month I got 5 done.  This month 4 blocks.  I find that as I work on the blocks I don't really like them.  But once I am done and have pressed the blocks I love them.

This block is called Beth's Bird.

This is Morning Glories.

This block is Tulips.

The last is Cherries and Strawberries.  I just finished this one yesterday.

Like I said I've been up.....We went and visited my son and his family in the upper peninsula for a week.  Normally when we head north the temps are cooler.  This time it was HOT and HUMID.  And they don't have air conditioning. But it was so wonderful to see them.  My granddaughter was done with hockey, but signed up for Tennis.  She plays for the High School.  Yep...she is in High School now.  Where does time go.

And I've been down....I was sick with food poisoning...or so we thought.  Still having problems so my doctor scheduled a Colonoscopy...ugh, for Sept. 14.  I think the stuff you have to drink is worse than the procedure.

I still managed to get a few things done in the sewing room.

This is a quilt top I made from blocks I received from a block swap I participated in with Bumble Beans.  The blocks are made with made fabric.

I also manage to make this little quilt.  It will fit on my quilt table frame.  It is 13" square.

I joined in on the bow tie swap Barb at Fun with Barb.  I joined in both groups. Modern and CW Repro fabrics.  I have my bright Modern fabric blocks made. $40 sets.  I have the fabric cut out for the Repro blocks.  I so enjoy Barbs Block swaps.  The last swap was 9 patch blocks.  It is nice to see all the different fabrics everyone uses.

Now I need to pick out the next four blocks for the sew along and get the pieces prepped.  Get my background fabric for the Repro Bow ties cut out and start sewing them.  I have one gift quilt almost finished and then I have to start quilting it.  So much to do and so little time.

I hope you have enjoyed your summer.  I'm so looking forward to Autumn, cooler weather and changing colors.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Cathy

  1. Great blocks Cathy. Good luck with the Colonoscopy. I agree once you get all that stuff down it is not so bad. Hoping for only food poisoning.

  2. I love your appliqued blocks - absolutely fabulous! Praying that you will "survive" the colonoscopy prep ... and that you'll get good results.

  3. You finished your blocks right under the wire! I knew you had been busy this past month.

I like the little quilt you made with the bird on it. I like small pieces that I can display on an end table.

  6. I'm glad you like the blocks once they are finished. That would be a lot of work to make something you don't like.
Oh, so sorry you have been so sick. Hope you can get some answers. And I agree--the prep is worse than the procedure!
LOVE that little quilt for your tabletop frame. : )

  8. Well, it IS summer - and we get such a short one, you just have to enjoy it and not spend it all in the sewing room, right? LOL! I just love those blocks you're doing with Karen, your applique is so beautiful. And your quilts tops are gorgeous! I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well hon, I'll say some prayers for you. Have you ever read Dave Barry's Colonoscopy Journal? You can google it, it's hysterical. I think you'll need a good laugh, facing that, lol....
