Two days of thunderstorms and two days of glorious sunshine. Hot and humid but I'm not complaining (even though I don't like hot and humid) because it is beautiful out.
Got some sewing done.
I made two stars with the freezer paper piecing method. I was quite surprised how easy it was. It is amazing that after 25 years of quilting I have never tried this. I will definitely do this again.
Then I made the Log Cabin Star Block. I am really enjoying making the Primitive Primer. Don't know why I waited so long to work on it. I've had the book for years.
The latest Barbara Brackman CW block. Not real happy with the way it turned out so I plan on redoing the block. I am having fun with these blocks.
I've seen so many curved flying geese projects lately and wanted to try it myself. Don't ask me how I came up with this one. I traced around a roll of tape on vellum paper and then traced around the inner ring of an embroidery hoop. Then I drew lines cutting across the ring and then drew the triangle units. I made a copy of it just in case it actually turned out so I could make more of them. I added 1/4" seam allowance inside and outside the circle. I cut the pattern at the bottom of one of the triangles. That made it easier to sew. Once all the flying geese were made I trimmed the ends to 1/4" so I could sew the ring together.
Now my big question is....What do I do now? lol
I hope you all have sunshine and have the chance to enjoy it. I got up early and went out to Metro Park this morning and walked. It was Glorious.....
Hugs, Cat

I really like the primitive primer. I have been looking for something like this to start. I will keep looking now that I see yours. I commented about the circle of geese over at 15 minutes play.
ReplyDeleteLove the curved flying geese!! They look perfect!
ReplyDeleteyour prim primer stars looks great! And I love your flying geese ring! I'd make it a little wall hanging! My youngest just got home from taking a month backpacking trip around the entire lake superior. Better her than me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the freezer paper piecing method or the curved flying geese. Everything looks great!

I love your PP quilt. It is turning out wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHmm, as far as the circular geese? Applique on top of other fabric? You could put a different color on the inner circle then applique the whole thing onto another large piece of fabric. It would make a good pillow or doll size quilt.
Too darn hot for me - I spent Monday and Tuesday sitting in front of the fans, reading and sipping ice water, lol. Couldn't bear the thought of touching fabric. I love your blocks, and the circular geese are amazing! I vote for applique.
